Was the Torah Nailed to the Cross? ~ Video Lesson Course

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter kills, but the spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:6

Christians sometimes misunderstand or misinterpret verse 6. They think that the verse is saying that the 10 commandments/Torah has been done away with and has been replaced by the Holy Spirit.

Here is the context for 2 Corinthians 3. The central question being asked is this: How do we minister to others? Do we minister to others by the spirit? Or do we minister to others by the letter (or in the flesh).

Mt Sinai is associated with the Torah being written upon hearts of stone. This was foreshadowed or prophesied to because the Torah was written upon tablets of stone.

Mt Zion is associated with the Torah being written upon hearts of flesh.

Is the Torah being written upon your heart? Are you a living letter of Yeshua? What do others see when they “read your life”?

In this course, the verses we will be looking at are: Ephesians 2:13-17:

Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace. And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby (Ephesians 2: 15-16)

The heart of Ephesians 2:13-17 is that Yeshua is coming to reconcile and restore both Northern kingdom (Ephraim) and Southern kingdom (Judah):

*back into the marriage covenant that was made at Mount Sinai
*reconcile them to the Lawgiver, Yeshua, who gave us the Torah
*reconcile them to each other!

What IS the one new man? The one new man is Northern kingdom and Southern kingdom being reconciled and reunited through the redemptive work of the Yeshua on the cross. The house of Jacob (all 12 tribes) broke the marriage covenant at Mt Sinai. This is WHO He is making into a one new man. HOW does Yeshua make them into a ONE NEW MAN?

By Yeshua forgiving them of their sins for breaking the covenant at Mt Sinai and for violating the Torah. When they repent, they are saved by grace through faith. They trust in Yeshua for salvation, and then, after receiving the indwelling Holy Spirit, they can return to following the Torah by the Holy Spirit. This is what it means to return to the marriage covenant that was made at Mt Sinai, to become ONE NEW MAN and ONE NEW BRIDE!

We will also be looking at Colossians 2:14 where it is written:

Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances against us” is interpreted to mean that the Torah was against us, that the Torah is nailed to the cross. It’s interpreted that Yeshua nailed the law to the cross. Is that really what this is saying?

We are told this in Hebrews 13:15 as it is written:

… let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Our land represents our life. It gets into captivity from hurts and wounds which come into our lives. These hurts and wounds come from “offenses”. These offenses can be things which other people do to us or great disappointments which happen in our lives where we might blame God for them. When our heart is wounded, we can experience self pity and bitterness. This can cause us to lose our joy and zeal for serving the God of Israel. This is when “our land” goes into “captivity”. In order to end our captivity, we need to praise and thank the God of Israel for who He is and the goodness and mercy that He has shown to us throughout our lives rather than dwell on the negative and blame the God of Israel for our hurts and wounds. Then, we will end the captivity of our land.

Mount Zion represents the heavenly Jerusalem where Yeshua will live and dwell with His Bride for all eternity.

The lowest level of holiness was the outer court. the higher level of holiness was the holy place. The highest level of holiness is the Holy of Holies. These levels of holiness corresponds to levels of holiness in the heavenly tabernacle. The Holy of Holies in the earthly tabernacle corresponds to the heavenly Jerusalem which is the highest level of holiness in the heavenly tabernacle.

In the resurrection of the dead in Messiah, we are not all equal (I Corinthians 15:35, 41-42). The lowest level of holiness in the Kingdom of God is being saved but having no eternal rewards (I Corinthians 3:15). The highest level of holiness is being saved, having rewards and being able to be the Bride of Yeshua who will dwell with Him forever in the New Jerusalem.
